I personally have serious concerns about stopping as groups for coffee.   This is especially true as we watch the number of cases in SLO County grow a higher rates than ever.  Both the SloPokes and Tortoises have elected to avoid these gatherings.  Don Thomas (who rides with the Tortoises) writes:

As you begin riding as groups again, my recommendation would be to avoid the coffee shops.

I am sure you have heard about the role of super spreading events in the spread of the virus.  Things like church services, bars, meat packing facilities... anywhere where there are a large number of people in a small space, greatly increase the probability of contamination.  The experts are beginning to compile lists of places they regard as being superspreading sites.  Unfortunately, coffee shops are on that list.

Wearing a mask does not protect a person in super spreading sites, unless it is a good fitting N95 grade mask.  Cloth masks provide a level of protection to the person the mask wearer is interacting with, but not to the wearer of the mask.

Anyway, my thoughts.

Regards,  Don
